Deputy Chief Nurse – Senior Leadership Role

About the role

The Deputy Chief Nurse will join the senior nursing leadership team of a multi‑site NHS Trust, primarily based at Queen's Hospital Burton. This 6‑month fixed‑term position provides strategic clinical leadership across acute and community sites, working closely with the Deputy Chief Operating Officer and the site Medical Director.

Key responsibilities

• Chair internal nursing meetings and represent the Trust on Board Committees and Trust Board sessions.
• Collaborate with directors of Patient Experience, Estates, Quality, Clinical Governance, Risk, Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals.
• Deliver operational and transformational leadership for Nursing, Midwifery and AHPs, including safe staffing and quality improvement.
• Provide expert advice on strategic nursing matters and ensure practice standards are met.
• Drive continuous improvement in patient outcomes and champion a positive organisational culture.
• Deputise for the Executive Chief Nurse and participate in the on‑call rota as required.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
• Proven ability to influence at executive level and make strategic decisions.
• Experience chairing meetings and representing organisations at senior forums.
• Strong collaborative skills with internal and external stakeholders.
