Director of Engineering – Global Accountancy Division

About the role

IRIS is seeking an experienced engineering leader to own a strategic pillar within its Global Accountancy division. The Director, Engineering will shape the future of cloud‑native, AI‑enabled accounting solutions and influence technology strategy across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a strategic engineering function for the Global Accountancy business.
• Drive engineering excellence in delivery, quality, scalability and operational performance.
• Partner with Product, Architecture and Commercial teams to deliver customer‑focused outcomes.
• Establish consistent engineering standards, governance and software development practices.
• Promote platform efficiency, automation and AI adoption throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Build and develop high‑performing engineering teams across multiple products and technologies.
• Ensure secure, resilient and compliant SaaS platforms.
• Shape long‑term technology strategy, modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Act as a technology thought leader within IRIS and with external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Current Director, Senior Director or Head of Engineering in a complex software organisation.
• Proven SaaS technology leader with a track record of scaling teams and platforms.
• Deep familiarity with modern cloud technologies, especially AWS and/or Azure.
• Comfort operating across engineering, product, commercial and operational environments.
• Experience with Agile, Platform Engineering, DevOps and Site Reliability practices.
• Passionate about developing people and building high‑performing cultures.
• Commercially astute, customer‑focused and excited by AI‑driven engineering innovation.
