Director of Financial Control

About the role

This senior position sits on the Group Finance leadership team and is responsible for shaping financial governance, reporting excellence and control across a large, multi‑entity financial services and real estate group. You will provide strategic direction for financial control, accounting policy, tax, treasury and sustainability reporting, supporting executive decision‑making and finance transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a high‑performing Financial Control function of ~15 staff, with three direct reports.
• Own the integrity, accuracy and completeness of the Group’s financial records and month‑end/year‑end close processes.
• Deliver group consolidation, statutory reporting and external financial disclosures in accordance with IFRS.
• Act as the Group’s technical accounting authority on complex and non‑routine transactions.
• Provide strategic oversight of tax, treasury, internal controls and sustainability reporting.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure strong audit outcomes.
• Maintain and enhance the internal control framework, ensuring governance, compliance and risk management.
• Drive financial control workstreams within major finance transformation and ERP implementation programmes.
• Partner with the Group Finance Director, senior executives and the Audit Committee to provide insight, challenge and assurance on financial stewardship.

Required profile

• Proven finance leader with senior experience in a complex, multi‑entity financial services or real‑estate organisation.
• Extensive background in Financial Control, Financial Reporting and/or Technical Accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and manage stakeholder relationships at board level.
• Experience overseeing tax, treasury, internal controls and sustainability reporting.
• Track record of delivering finance transformation programmes and ERP implementations.
