Directors & Officers Insurance Apprenticeship 2027

About the role

Howden's Wholesale team connects insurance brokers in Israel, Poland, Ireland and the Middle East with Lloyd's of London and global markets, helping them find specialist cover for complex international risks. The Directors & Officers (D&O) Insurance Apprenticeship 2027 is an 18-month programme starting in September 2027, with a permanent role from day one. You will work in the office at least 3-4 days per week and must live within commuting distance.

Key responsibilities

• Build understanding of D&O and Financial Institutions insurance and how wholesale broking works
• Prepare and send insurance submissions to insurers
• Help create insurance slips recording risk, cover and terms
• Attend meetings with underwriters, insurers, brokers and clients
• Review insurers' responses and share information with brokers and clients
• Process invoices and give administrative support throughout the placement process

Required profile

• No insurance experience needed; training provided
• Full and unrestricted right to work in the UK
• Lived permanently in the UK for the last 3 years
• Grade C/4 in GCSE English and B/5 in Maths
• Not already holding a qualification that significantly overlaps with this apprenticeship

Required skills

• Comfortable working with numbers and completing numerical tasks quickly and accurately
• Ability to handle several tasks in a fast-moving environment
