Family Safeguarding Social Worker (Temporary, Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Family Support Team (FST) Social Worker to join our Weybridge team. The role focuses on supporting children, young people and families affected by unauthorised absence, ensuring their welfare and promoting engagement with education and services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and deliver direct support to children and families experiencing unauthorised absence.
• Develop and implement personalised intervention plans to improve child welfare and family engagement.
• Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers and other agencies to provide a coordinated, holistic response.
• Advocate for children’s and families’ rights, facilitating access to resources and opportunities.
• Maintain accurate, confidential case records in line with legal and ethical standards.
• Participate in team meetings, training and supervision to continuously develop professional skills.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field and registration with a recognised social work body.
• Experience working in social care with children and families, particularly on issues of unauthorised absence.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and advocacy abilities.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads with professionalism and sensitivity.
