Finance Assistant

About the role

The Hoxton Edinburgh, the group's first hotel in Scotland, is looking for a Finance Assistant to report to the Director of Finance. You will process, monitor and manage accounts for the property and ensure compliance and regulatory standards are met. The hotel sits in the West End across 11 Georgian townhouses and offers 214 bedrooms, a bar, restaurant, cinema and event space.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the hotel's month-end closing, ensuring it closes on time and accurately each month.
• Oversee day-to-day finance, including processing and managing revenues and sales ledger processing, working closely with the Director of Finance.
• Support the People & Culture team with payroll submissions and processing.
• Monitor financial processes and look for ways to improve them.
• Take part in monthly reporting, including P&L, balance sheet (with reconciliation) and cash flow.
• Keep finance policies and procedures on track and support business partners with their finance activities.

Required profile

• Previous hotel experience is preferred but not mandatory; training is provided.
• Understanding of basic accounting functions and strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Ability to analyse P&L statements and record and report with timeliness and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Hands-on, proactive approach with a methodical yet flexible way of working.
• Confident communicator able to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
