Financial Controller

About the role

Onyx is a fast‑scaling social commerce agency looking for its first in‑house finance hire. As a Financial Controller you will design and build the finance function from the ground up, working closely with the founders and playing a hands‑on role in a rapidly growing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the roadmap for transitioning from outsourced to in‑house finance.
• Design, implement and maintain automated, scalable financial controls, systems and processes.
• Own month‑end close, produce accurate management accounts and oversee cash‑flow, working‑capital and forecasting.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll operations.
• Partner with commercial and operations teams to ensure financial data reflects business economics, including revenue forecasting and profitability analysis.
• Produce board‑ready financial reports and manage EIS compliance and investor reporting.
• Lead statutory accounts, audit and tax compliance in the UK and build a multi‑entity accounting framework for EU expansion.
• Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decisions.
