Financial Controller – Rapidly Scaling Grocery & FMCG Brand (Hybrid, Central London)

About the role

This is the first dedicated finance hire for a fast‑growing UK grocery and FMCG brand generating around £40m in revenue. Reporting to the CEO with a dotted line to the Group CFO, you will own the entire UK finance function and help shape it as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end monthly and annual close, coordinating with an external accounting provider.
• Prepare statutory financial statements under UK GAAP and manage all balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with UK tax regulations, including VAT and Corporation Tax, and oversee external tax advisors and auditors.
• Drive statutory audits and act as the primary contact for external advisors.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis in partnership with the UK MD and group headquarters.
• Partner with Sales and Supply Chain to accurately account for trade spend, rebates and commercial agreements.
• Oversee treasury functions, cash flow, banking relationships and payment/collection processes.
• Implement process improvements and build a robust internal control framework as the entity scales.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Experience in a fast‑growing branded consumer goods or grocery business.
• Proven ability to operate independently and build a finance function from scratch.

Required skills

• ERP systems experience, preferably SAP.
