Financial Controller – Real Estate & Development

About the role

We are partnering with a leading international real‑estate investment and development organisation to hire a Financial Controller for its UK finance leadership team. This is a hands‑on, senior‑level position covering financial reporting, treasury, compliance, budgeting and team leadership across a complex property portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, including entity consolidations and IFRS reporting.
• Manage the production of annual statutory accounts and act as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial performance analysis across multiple entities and projects.
• Produce project financial reports and deliver insights to senior stakeholders.
• Manage treasury activities such as debt and equity drawdowns, funding requests and cash management.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, tax obligations and internal controls.
• Support senior finance leadership with board papers, financial recommendations, policy development and process improvements.
• Oversee AP, AR and GL activities within an Oracle ERP environment.
• Lead and develop a small finance team.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• 4+ years post‑qualified experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar role.
• Previous experience in real estate, property development, construction, infrastructure or investment sectors.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS (US GAAP exposure advantageous).
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with ERP systems.
• People‑management experience.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with a range of stakeholders.
