Freelance Consumer PR Consultant – Child‑Friendly Phone Launch

About the role

We are seeking a senior freelance Consumer PR Consultant to lead the UK press strategy for a child‑friendly smartphone brand. The role will run for 1‑3 months, starting late September 2026, with an initial paid scoping task in the week of 24 August.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a consumer‑first PR plan that secures placement in UK gift guides, tech and parenting media.
• Manage reviewer and creator programmes, including device loan and seeding logistics.
• Coordinate a UK launch moment for a new home‑device aimed at children.
• Maintain an always‑on press office, pitching stories and news‑jacking opportunities around screen‑time, online safety, and back‑to‑school trends.
• Support trade coverage where it enhances retail listings.
• Deliver a paid scoping task (1‑2 days) to validate the PR strategy, cost model and KPI estimates.

Required profile

• 8+ years of senior‑level UK consumer PR experience, preferably in tech, kids or family brands.
• Current, active book of contacts across consumer tech, parenting, and gift‑guide editors.
• Proven track record of securing gift‑guide placements and product reviews during the last two Christmas seasons.
• Ability to work independently under direction and deliver white‑labelled support to a client team.

Required skills

• Daily rate of £500 – £550, invoiced monthly.
