General Manager – Profit Centre Lead / Head of Sales

About the role

As General Manager you will own the full P&L of a £9m+ profit centre within a £1bn+ group, driving turnover, margin and long‑term growth. This senior commercial role offers full autonomy to shape strategy, optimise operations and deliver results.

Key responsibilities

• Set and deliver the growth strategy for the profit centre.
• Own and drive the P&L, ensuring revenue and margin targets are met.
• Accelerate B2B sales performance and increase market share.
• Strengthen global supplier relationships and negotiate at senior level.
• Build, lead and develop a high‑performing team.
• Optimise operations, governance and ensure operational excellence (OTIF, stock, service).

Required profile

• Proven experience owning and growing a P&L.
• Strong B2B commercial leadership background.
• Strategic thinker with a solid operational grip.
• Senior‑level supplier negotiation experience.
• Track record of driving margin and revenue growth.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
