Hardware/QA Test Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Hardware/QA Test Engineer to join a leading digital identity technology company. The role is full‑time and based on‑site in Godalming, working on NFC‑enabled hardware used across healthcare, retail and events.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans for NFC hardware and firmware.
• Execute functional, regression, stress and validation tests to ensure product performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues at PCB, component and system levels and produce clear defect reports.
• Collaborate with R&D and production teams to verify solutions, evaluate revisions and improve product robustness.
• Design, build and optimise test jigs, fixtures and automated testing rigs to increase testing efficiency.
• Support integration of automated testing systems into manufacturing and improve existing test equipment.
• Test and evaluate new components, prototype circuits and perform supplier qualification assessments.
• Assist with certification activities and documentation preparation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hardware QA, electronics testing or embedded‑systems validation.
• Strong understanding of electronics fundamentals, PCB troubleshooting and circuit schematics.
• Hands‑on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and logic analyzers.
• Ability to analyse firmware‑driven hardware products and produce detailed defect analysis.
• Methodical, detail‑oriented and capable of working independently and within a team.
