Head Chef

About the role

Saputo is looking for an ambitious, creative Head Chef for its award-winning Visitor Centre in Hawes, Yorkshire Dales. The role leads the day-to-day running of the kitchens, creates menus showcasing the cheeses and seasonal local produce, and works closely with the senior management team to deliver agreed margins and budgets. It is a hands-on position for an experienced chef in a fast-paced kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Develop menus, products and packages with the management team, and set standardised recipes and portion control across the team
• Issue tasks, manage customer complaints and communicate customer feedback daily
• Complete weekly rosters, maintain adequate stock and run stock takes, and identify margin opportunities
• Ensure HACCP, health and safety and cleaning standards are met, and audit procedural requirements
• Support the VC Director with departmental budgets, provide menu costings and submit purchase orders, invoices and delivery notes
• Support recruitment, induct new kitchen staff and deliver training in line with the training plan
• Manage team holiday requests with the Operations Manager and act as a role model for the team

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Head Chef in a similar fast-paced environment
• Results-driven, able to lead people toward company goals and manage conflict and crisis
• Good communicator, decisive, resilient and flexible, with attention to detail and a drive for continuous improvement
