Head of Housing

About the role

The Head of Housing will lead the delivery, performance and continuous improvement of housing management services for Hundred Houses Society, a charitable housing association serving Greater Cambridgeshire. Reporting to senior leadership, this role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on people leadership to ensure services are customer‑focused, compliant and value‑for‑money.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, inspire and develop the Housing Team, fostering a positive and accountable culture.
• Shape and implement the housing strategy while ensuring full regulatory compliance.
• Deliver high‑quality core housing management services, keeping customers at the centre of all decisions.
• Drive service improvement, assurance and professional standards across tenancy management, rent, service charges, allocations, voids and estate management.
• Manage risk, safeguarding and tenancy sustainment, making evidence‑based decisions aligned with organisational values.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in housing management within a social housing provider.
• Deep knowledge of housing legislation, regulation and professional standards.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop staff, creating a high‑performing team.
• Strong analytical capability using housing data and performance information to manage risk and improve services.
• Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with a customer‑focused mindset.
