Head of People & Culture – Strategic HR Leader

About the role

The Head of People & Culture will lead the people agenda for National Friendly Society, a member‑owned mutual with a 150‑year heritage. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Executive Team and Board, you will shape culture, develop leadership capability and drive workforce strategy to support continued growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the People & Culture strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Act as the principal adviser to the CEO and Executive Team on all people matters.
• Lead succession planning, workforce planning and talent development programmes.
• Drive employee engagement, wellbeing and culture initiatives.
• Support the Board and Remuneration Committee on organisational capability and people governance.
• Oversee HR and Facilities functions to ensure high‑quality service delivery.

Required profile

• Significant senior HR leadership experience, preferably at executive level.
• Proven ability to develop and execute organisation‑wide people strategies.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and governance.
• Track record of leading change, culture and organisational development programmes.
• Experience advising senior leadership teams and Boards.
• Professional HR qualification (MCIPD/FCIPD) or equivalent.
