Homelessness Team Manager – Lead Frontline Services

About the role

The Homelessness Team Manager will lead critical frontline services within Hillingdon Council’s Housing Needs & Homelessness department. This senior operational role is responsible for managing demand, driving performance and delivering high‑quality, resident‑focused outcomes across a range of specialist pathways including families, singles, move‑on, domestic abuse and resettlement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop frontline teams delivering statutory homelessness services, ensuring consistent, lawful decision‑making.
• Manage caseloads, workflows and performance against key targets, overseeing complex and high‑risk cases.
• Use data, insight and performance information to drive continuous service improvement and transformation aligned with the Medium Term Financial Strategy.
• Develop specialist practice knowledge across cohorts such as domestic abuse, complex needs and single homelessness.
• Build high‑performing teams, embed a strong performance culture and support staff resilience.
• Partner with external agencies to prevent homelessness and support residents through effective interventions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in housing, homelessness or related frontline services.
• Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Track record of managing teams, improving operational performance and handling complex casework.
• Resilient, decisive leader who can remain calm under pressure and drive accountability.
