HSEQ Manager – Construction Projects (10‑week contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to lead Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality activities across high‑profile construction projects. The role is based on site in Croydon and runs for ten weeks, reporting directly to the Project Director and Project Management Team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain project‑specific HSEQ Management Systems.
• Ensure compliance with UK legislation such as the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM Regulations 2015.
• Advise project teams on HSEQ performance and conduct regular site audits, inspections and behavioural safety observations.
• Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near‑misses.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing training for the workforce.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, manage all HSEQ documentation and maintain records including Construction Phase Plans, COSHH assessments and inspection registers.
• Support environmental initiatives, including waste reduction and sustainability objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HSEQ Manager on large construction or logistics projects, preferably with Amazon‑related sites.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to engage confidently with clients, subcontractors and project teams.
• Passion for health and safety and a visible presence on site to promote a positive safety culture.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation (Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM Regulations 2015).
• Expertise in developing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Ability to conduct site audits, inspections and behavioural safety observations.
• Experience leading accident, incident and near‑miss investigations.
• Competence in managing HSEQ documentation and environmental compliance.
