Infrastructure Architect

About the role

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is seeking an Infrastructure Architect to define and drive the architecture vision for its technology infrastructure. You will work closely with the Director of Architecture to design, implement and maintain robust on‑premise and cloud solutions that meet the organisation’s security, performance and scalability requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to align infrastructure decisions with the Enterprise Architecture strategy.
• Conduct horizon scanning of emerging cloud and infrastructure trends and assess their impact on the ICO.
• Develop and maintain an infrastructure roadmap that supports current operations and future growth.
• Define and enforce infrastructure standards, frameworks and best‑practice deployment guidelines.
• Ensure consistency across the ICO’s infrastructure landscape and facilitate integration of new technologies.
• Monitor and optimise the performance, security and scalability of servers, storage, networks and cloud services.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering complex infrastructure solutions in both on‑premise and cloud environments.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical architecture.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a hybrid team across multiple UK locations.
