Interim Financial Controller (12-month Fixed-Term)

About the role

We are seeking an Interim Financial Controller to provide maternity cover for approximately 12‑15 months. The successful candidate will initially support the transactional team during an ERP implementation and then take full responsibility for the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain internal controls and oversee day‑to‑day accounting activities including bank reconciliations, sales invoicing, purchase ledger and payment runs.
• Manage inventory control, cost updates, stock counts and valuations.
• Prepare cash‑flow forecasts, working‑capital reports and annual budgets with departmental forecasts.
• Produce monthly management accounts and support CAPEX and investment appraisal processes.
• Control costs and overheads, perform sales and profitability analysis.
• Handle monthly VAT returns, PAYE and HMRC liaison, and prepare year‑end accounts and audit files.
• Supervise a small finance team and ensure smooth month‑end procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a financial management or senior accountant/financial controller role.
• CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualification (strong QBE candidates also considered).
• Enthusiastic, positive and driven with a collaborative approach.
• Willingness to take ownership of issues and deliver solutions.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with ERP systems, including implementation or upgrades.
