Interim Head of People Services (12‑month contract)

About the role

The Interim Head of People Services will lead HR, Payroll, Talent Management and Learning & Development for a 12‑month period. Based in North Essex with hybrid working, you will guide the organisation through transition, stabilise current operations and help shape a future‑ready People Services function.

Key responsibilities

• Support development and refinement of the People Strategy and deliver strategic actions.
• Lead workforce analytics and insights to inform decision‑making and planning.
• Provide authoritative HR guidance to Directors and the Senior Management Team.
• Advise on policy implementation, organisational change and employment‑law updates.
• Coach managers to strengthen people‑management capability across the business.

Required profile

• Senior HR leadership experience in complex or reactive environments.
• Proven track record stabilising and improving HR/People Services functions.
• Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) at Chartered level.
• Demonstrated professional competencies: ethical practice, influence, inclusivity, commercial drive, learning passion, insight focus and situational decision‑making.
