IT Systems Engineer

About the role

Gearset’s IT team supports 350+ employees across multiple offices and a growing remote workforce. As the company expands into the enterprise market, we need a proactive IT Systems Engineer to keep systems, endpoints, and networks running smoothly while supporting strategic IT and security projects.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain MDM and endpoint platforms (Jamf, Intune) ensuring fleet health and patch compliance.
• Manage and audit core Identity and Access Management (IAM) and SaaS lifecycles for onboarding/offboarding.
• Serve as primary 2nd‑line escalation point for the IT Support Technician, analysing trends to reduce recurring tickets.
• Create and maintain thorough technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Troubleshoot office networking infrastructure to ensure consistent connectivity.
• Contribute to automation and small improvements within larger strategic projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in IT support, Tech Ops or End‑User Computing roles.
• Comfortable managing Apple/macOS environments with Jamf.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise SaaS platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, and Notion.
• Familiarity with security best practices, patch management and strict access control principles.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

What we offer

• Salary of £50,000 per year (depending on experience)
• Full‑time permanent contract, Monday‑Friday
• Hybrid work model – 2‑3 days per week in Cambridge office, flexible home working
