Lead Mobile Engineer – Tech for Good (Remote, £90k)

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Mobile Engineer to drive the redevelopment of mission‑critical mobile applications for a Tech for Good client. The role combines hands‑on development with technical leadership, shaping architecture, standards and delivery practices across iOS and Android platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the redesign and implementation of scalable mobile features for iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit) and Android (Kotlin, Java).
• Define and improve engineering standards, including architecture, testing, code quality and release processes.
• Mentor and support a small development team, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and quality teams to integrate solutions and ensure high performance and reliability.
• Drive continuous improvement of development workflows, including AI‑assisted tooling and automation.

Required profile

• Proven experience building native mobile applications for iOS and/or Android.
• Strong understanding of REST API integration, authentication mechanisms and real‑time or asynchronous app behavior.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools or modern engineering automation workflows.
• Solid grasp of testing, maintainable architecture, performance optimisation and code review practices.
