Learning Support Assistant – Hackney (Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work in schools and sixth‑forms across Hackney. The role is temporary and ongoing, providing vital physical and communication support to students with additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide physical and communication assistance tailored to each student’s needs.
• Enable full access to curriculum and extracurricular activities, including lessons, assemblies and parents’ evenings.
• Work with individuals and groups under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
• Help plan and organise learning activities for supported students.
• Remove barriers to learning to promote cognitive development.
• Assist with physical welfare, moving, handling and intimate care where required.
• Contribute to setting individual targets and reviewing progress under SENCO guidance.
• Attend meetings, reviews and produce written reports.
• Monitor progress, keep accurate records and give feedback to teachers.

Required profile

• Experience supporting young people with learning disabilities such as autism or ADHD.
• Background in an educational setting providing academic or personal care support.
• Willingness and ability to provide high‑needs personal care (e.g., PEG feeding, toileting, changing).
• Available to interview immediately.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or registration on the Update Service).
