Learning Support Assistant – One‑to‑One Academic & Emotional Support

About the role

Join a welcoming primary school in Bath as a Learning Support Assistant, providing one‑to‑one academic and emotional support to children with additional needs. The role starts at the beginning of the new academic year and runs full‑time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am‑3:30 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised one‑to‑one support, adapting teaching methods to each child’s learning style.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Assist children with tasks, assignments and classroom activities to ensure progress.
• Implement strategies that promote social and emotional development.
• Run small‑group booster and intervention sessions for pupils who need extra help.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, achievements and areas for improvement.
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about each child’s development.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with additional needs, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents and staff.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility to adapt strategies to meet individual needs.
• Proactive, collaborative approach working closely with teachers and the school team.
