Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Maintenance Engineer will join HCA UK’s hospital campus to ensure all facilities run safely and efficiently. You will carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a range of building services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to breakdowns.
• Carry out skilled general maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, tiling, flooring, painting and decorating.
• Maintain mechanical and electrical plant such as HVAC, pumps, motors, lighting and distribution systems.
• Inspect consulting rooms, clinical and public areas and address issues promptly.
• Work occasionally alone and may cover occasional weekend shifts.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2/BTEC/City & Guilds or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
• GCSE (or equivalent) passes in English and Maths.
• Health & Safety, COSHH, Lifting & Handling training.
• Competent with Microsoft Office and electronic task‑logging tablets.

Required skills

• Planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Mechanical and electrical fault finding and repair.
• HVAC, air‑conditioning (F‑Gas), ventilation and heating systems.
• Basic wiring, electrical testing and 3‑phase systems.
• Plumbing, carpentry, tiling, flooring, painting and decorating.
• Building Management Systems (BMS) monitoring (desirable).
• Knowledge of health & safety regulations, RAMS and statutory inspections (fire safety, pressure systems, water hygiene).
