Maintenance Handyman – Southampton Student Accommodation

About the role

We are seeking a proactive, multi‑skilled Maintenance Handyman to support a busy student accommodation site in Southampton over the summer period. You will ensure the property remains safe, compliant and well‑presented by handling both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests via internal systems.
• Carry out general repairs, including plumbing, decorating and joinery.
• Support reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
• Conduct regular inspections of rooms and communal areas.
• Identify and address health & safety risks and maintenance issues.
• Maintain accurate logs for maintenance, inspections and compliance.
• Provide a professional, approachable service to residents.

Required profile

• Proven experience in maintenance, handyman or related trades.
• Strong practical ability across general maintenance disciplines.
• Self‑motivated, reliable and able to work independently.
• Capable of managing workload effectively during a full‑time shift (10 am‑4 pm).
