Manufacturing Layout Engineer

About the role

Lotus UK Manufacturing is looking for a Manufacturing Layout Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering team at its state‑of‑the‑art facility in Hethel. The role involves creating, developing and maintaining manufacturing layouts and CAD drawings for current production and new vehicle programmes. You will support the whole lifecycle from concept and feasibility through equipment installation to final as‑built documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Create, modify and maintain facility layouts using AutoCAD, covering production lines, workstations, machinery, tooling and logistics areas.
• Develop concept, feasibility and detailed layouts for existing models and new vehicle programmes, ensuring optimal space utilisation and process flow.
• Conduct site surveys and validate CAD layouts against actual factory conditions, incorporating supplier equipment drawings and resolving space conflicts.
• Support equipment installation, relocation and manufacturing change activities with accurate installation drawings and as‑built documentation.
• Maintain master factory layouts with proper revision and configuration control, and provide CAD support across the business.

Required profile

• HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Automotive, Design Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, especially 2D drafting and manufacturing layout development.
• Experience creating and maintaining engineering or factory layouts and reading technical drawings.
• Good understanding of manufacturing environments, process flow and space utilisation.
• Proactive team player with strong attention to detail and logical problem‑solving skills.
