Menswear Assistant Designer

About the role

The John Lewis Partnership is looking for entry-level fashion designers to join its design team at the Pimlico head office in London. The role is permanent, pays between £28,000 and £39,000 per year, and follows a hybrid pattern of three in-person days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) with the rest of the work from home.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design team in developing seasonal collections that fit the premium brand identity.
• Carry out trend research, fabric sourcing and concept development.
• Prepare mood boards, sketches and technical packages.
• Use CLO3D to create digital prototypes and visualise garment construction.
• Work with pattern makers, technical developers and production teams, and take part in fittings, revisions and sampling.

Required profile

• Entry-level fashion designer with a strong aesthetic sense, attention to detail and a proactive, creative approach.
• Desirable: degree in fashion design or a related field, a design portfolio and retail experience.
• Ability to present ideas to the team and to turn design trends into commercially viable designs.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CLO3D or AI garment design software.
• Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills (Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Understanding of premium brand aesthetics, fabrics and finishing details.
