Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Mon‑Fri Shift

About the role

We are seeking a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a leading food‑product manufacturing company in Gateshead. The role operates on a Monday‑to‑Friday shift pattern covering early, late and night shifts, with an early finish on Fridays. You will be part of a dedicated maintenance team responsible for keeping a busy production line running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Perform reactive maintenance to resolve equipment breakdowns promptly.
• Carry out preventative maintenance tasks to minimise unplanned downtime.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and control system faults.
• Collaborate with production staff to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Document maintenance activities and update equipment records.

Required profile

• Proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Ability to work across multiple disciplines – mechanical, electrical and controls.
• Willingness to work flexible shift patterns, including nights.
• Commutes to Gateshead from surrounding areas (Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, etc.).
