Nursery Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a Nursery Teaching Assistant to support children with complex physical, medical and behavioural needs in schools across Bristol. The role is based on school premises during term‑time hours and is ideal for candidates with a background in social or residential care who want to transition into an educational setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist pupils with additional needs during lessons and throughout the school day.
• Provide personal care, mobility support and help with daily routines as required.
• Promote inclusion, independence and emotional well‑being of each child.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver consistent assistance.
• Help students stay focused and engaged in their learning activities.

Required profile

• Experience as a social care worker, support worker or in a residential care setting.
• Comfortable delivering personal care and supporting physical disabilities.
• Calm, compassionate and adaptable approach to working with children.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Passion for helping pupils achieve their full potential.

Required skills

• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Understanding of special educational needs and EHCP frameworks.
• Ability to follow care plans and health‑related instructions.

• Competitive daily rate of £90‑£100 (PAYE).
