Payroll Officer

About the role

We are supporting a client in Stockton-on-Tees who are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer on a permanent basis. You will join a dynamic payroll function and take full ownership of multiple payrolls from start to finish, working autonomously to deliver accurate results.

Key responsibilities

• Process starters and leavers across all payrolls.
• Calculate holiday pay, national insurance contributions and statutory payments such as SSP, SMP and SPP.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of payroll legislation and ensure compliance.
• Perform manual calculations and pension related tasks.
• Resolve payroll queries promptly and accurately.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months experience in a payroll capacity.
• Strong understanding of holiday, NI, and statutory payment calculations.
• Knowledge of pension schemes and manual payroll calculations.
• Ability to stay current with payroll legislation.
• Proactive attitude with a passion for payroll.
