People Manager

About the role

Bamboo Nine, a digital marketing agency in Brighton, is seeking an experienced People Manager on a part‑time basis (2–3 days per week). You will own the HR and recruitment functions, ensuring smooth people processes, supporting managers, and helping the agency attract and retain top talent.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day HR operations, acting as the first point of contact for managers and employees.
• Maintain compliance with UK employment legislation and keep HR policies up to date.
• Oversee employee relations, including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters.
• Coordinate onboarding, probation, off‑boarding and annual performance review processes.
• Maintain accurate employee records in Bamboo HR.
• Lead the full recruitment cycle from brief to offer, including job advertising, sourcing, screening, interviewing and candidate communication.
• Monitor recruitment metrics such as time‑to‑hire, cost‑per‑hire and quality of hire.
• Support salary reviews, promotions and career progression discussions.
• Identify and implement improvements to simplify people processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR management or people operations, preferably within a fast‑moving agency environment.
• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload across multiple priorities.
• Commercially aware and comfortable working autonomously on a part‑time schedule.
• Experience with Bamboo HR or similar HR software is advantageous.
