Personal Tax Specialist (UK)

About the role

We are seeking a Personal Tax Specialist to manage a diverse portfolio of UK clients, delivering high‑quality tax compliance and advisory services. The role involves direct interaction with clients and HM Revenue & Customs, ensuring accurate and timely tax filings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients and prepare partnership tax returns.
• Process information and file Self‑Assessment tax returns, including trusts.
• Handle loss relief claims, pension charge calculations, and capital gains tax reliefs.
• Complete 60‑day CGT returns for residential property disposals.
• Liaise with clients and HMRC on tax and national insurance queries.
• Review statements of account, repayments, and payments, addressing client queries.
• Support tax teams with administration, delegation, and drafting advisory assignments (CGT planning, Inheritance Tax, succession planning).
• At senior level, review simple returns prepared by assistants and mentor junior staff.
• Collaborate with Tax Managers to ensure seamless client service.

Required profile

• ACCA/CA qualification or near completion (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 2 years of accounting services experience for UK clients.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, can‑do attitude.
• Willingness to develop tax knowledge and support team development.

• Tax return preparation (partnership, self‑assessment, trusts).
• Capital Gains Tax planning and 60‑day CGT filings.
• Inheritance Tax and succession planning.
• Loss relief and pension charge calculations.
• Client and HMRC liaison.
