Planning Engineer – Nuclear Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Planning Engineer to join a leading international engineering contractor working on major nuclear infrastructure projects in Workington. The role involves developing and maintaining detailed programmes for design, construction and commissioning, and supporting delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, update and submit overall project programmes in line with contract requirements.
• Develop resource‑loaded schedules, conduct plausibility reviews and manage feasibility and option‑selection planning.
• Control changes, assess impacts and communicate temporary and preliminary works.
• Collaborate with designers, contractors, client planning teams and subcontractors to ensure coordinated delivery.
• Participate in weekly planning, progress and risk‑reduction meetings and provide planning advice to stakeholders.
• Produce visual material, undertake programme risk analysis and support 4D time‑sequence planning using Syncro or similar tools.
• Maintain compliance with client and company planning processes, safety, quality and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Degree in civil, infrastructure or related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience as a planning engineer within the nuclear or large‑scale infrastructure sector.
• Ability to obtain SC security clearance.
• Strong understanding of programme delivery, change control and risk management.

• Syncro (or similar 4D planning software)
