Primary Teacher – Year 1 (Maternity Cover)

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Year 1 primary teacher to cover maternity leave at a welcoming primary school in Wigan. The position runs from September 2026 until July 2027, offering a full‑time, on‑site teaching experience in a supportive community.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons for Year 1 pupils.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor student progress, provide feedback and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with colleagues and communicate regularly with parents.
- Promote a love of learning and help each child reach their potential.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and legal right to work in the UK.
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 or a similar classroom setting.
- Familiarity with phonics instruction.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (and overseas police checks if applicable).
- Recent CV covering the last ten years of employment.
