Purchasing Manager – Advanced Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement function for a market‑leading advanced manufacturing business. You will own the end‑to‑end purchasing process, manage a global supplier network and ensure uninterrupted production.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with operational and commercial goals.
• Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, contracts, payment terms, lead times and supplier agreements.
• Manage a global supplier base, including key suppliers in the Far East.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements in quality, delivery and cost.
• Conduct supplier audits and support corrective‑action programmes.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Planning, Quality and Finance to align purchasing activities with manufacturing requirements.
• Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks such as material shortages and cost fluctuations.
• Lead, mentor and develop the purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or senior procurement professional in manufacturing, engineering or industrial production.
• Demonstrated ability to manage international suppliers, especially in Far‑Eastern supply chains.
• Strong commercial awareness with a hands‑on approach to negotiations and supplier relationship management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills across cross‑functional teams.
