Quality of Placements Officer (Children's Social Care)

About the role

We are seeking a Quality of Placements Officer to join the Children’s Social Care Commissioning team at Staffordshire County Council. The role focuses on quality assurance of residential education settings and commissioned community support for children, working on a part‑time, fixed‑term basis.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Quality Assurance visits to residential schools to ensure compliance with National Minimum Standards and care plans.
• Support the Commissioning Manager in maintaining high standards of care and contractual compliance for commissioned places.
• Quality assure commissioned centre‑based community support that falls outside CQC or OFSTED oversight.
• Attend Admissions and Review panels for residential schools and review individual placement plans, progress and outcomes.
• Participate in the Children’s Disability Resource Panel, raise safeguarding concerns and work closely with social care colleagues.
• Contribute to the development of children’s services to ensure appropriate support for families.

Required profile

• Degree level education in a related field or equivalent experience in the social care/health sector and/or commissioning.
• Experience working directly with children.
• Experience in a children’s social care setting or a similar environment.
• Demonstrable knowledge of quality assurance processes and safeguarding procedures.
