Registered Nurse – Neonatal (Band 5)

About the role

The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join their neonatal teams at Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton. This role offers the chance to provide high‑quality, family‑centred care to newborns requiring intensive, special, or transitional support.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to neonates and their families.
• Support and promote Family Integrated Care (FiCare) principles.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team across both neonatal sites.
• Maintain a safe clinical environment and adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
• Provide effective communication and emotional support to families throughout their neonatal journey.

Required profile

• Qualified Band 5 Registered Nurse, qualified in adult or child nursing.
• Passion for neonatal nursing and family‑centred care.
• Flexibility to work a 7‑day, 24‑hour service and rotate between sites.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Required skills

• Knowledge of neonatal intensive, special, and transitional care.
• Understanding of Family Integrated Care and Baby Friendly Initiative principles.
