School Kitchen Assistant – Temporary (Enhanced DBS Required)

About the role

We are looking for reliable School Kitchen Assistants to join our team on a temporary, part‑time basis across schools and educational settings in Grays and Thurrock. The role involves preparing and serving nutritious meals while adhering to strict food safety and safeguarding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and serving of fresh, balanced meals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
• Wash equipment, utensils and food preparation areas.
• Support stock rotation, storage and waste reduction.
• Help cater for dietary requirements, allergies and special diets.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Kitchen, Catering or General Assistant in a school or other DBS‑regulated environment.
• Valid Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the DBS Update Service.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum).
• Food Allergen Awareness Certificate.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
