About the role
We are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school’s SEN provision in Chelmsford. This is a long‑term, full‑time position supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils across primary age groups, adapting to varied learning abilities.
- Work closely with children presenting ASD, ADHD, SEMH, additional learning needs and behavioural challenges.
- Build positive, supportive relationships that encourage engagement in learning.
- Assist with behaviour management strategies and help create a safe, structured environment.
- Support teachers in delivering lessons and provide one‑to‑one or small‑group interventions.
Required profile
- Prior experience in a Pupil Referral Unit, Alternative Provision, or a similar setting.
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEN and behavioural difficulties.
- A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to challenging behaviour.
- Flexibility to adapt to different age groups and settings within the provision.
