Senior Forensic Investigator (Mechanical)

About the role

Sedgwick's EFI Global UK, part of the internationally respected EFI Global Inc and Sedgwick Group, is looking for a Senior Forensic Investigator (Mechanical) for a UK-wide, permanent position. The role combines technical investigation with strategic support for health and safety processes, covering incidents in domestic and commercial settings, from routine insurance claims to complex, high-value cases such as large marine losses.

Key responsibilities

• Visit incident sites and laboratories to collect evidence and interview witnesses
• Dismantle machinery or equipment where needed to determine the root cause of incidents
• Design and carry out tests with external agencies
• Promote health and safety best practices and support internal procedures

Required profile

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience; chartered status preferred, ideally with IOSH or NEBOSH certification
• Proven experience preparing and delivering health and safety processes and procedures
• Ideally experience giving expert opinion in legal or insurance contexts
• Full UK driving licence is essential for travel to sites and labs
• Experience in the insurance sector is beneficial but not essential, as training is provided

Required skills

• Strong understanding and practical application of engineering principles
• Comfortable working with approved documents, codes and standards
