Machine Operator – Food Manufacturing

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is recruiting Machine Operators for its Nuneaton centre of excellence, which processes and packages cheeses such as Cathedral City, Davidstow and Wensleydale. The role involves running, setting up and monitoring production machinery, with progression into fault finding and front-line maintenance of mechanical and electronic equipment such as HMI screens and PLC systems. It suits someone who wants to move into an engineering role in the longer term.

Key responsibilities

• Run, clean and set up factory equipment
• Operate and monitor cutting and packing machines to keep production flowing smoothly
• Carry out 30-minute quality checks so products meet specifications and compliance standards
• Work with the shift team to hit production targets
• Follow health and safety, food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
• Report equipment issues promptly to minimise downtime
• Maintain accurate records of quality checks and production data

Required profile

• Hands-on experience operating and setting up production machinery, ideally in food manufacturing or a high-care environment
• Understanding of and commitment to food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards
• Detail-oriented, able to carry out regular checks and keep accurate records
• Team player, proactive and reliable, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

What we offer

• Salary of £35,576 plus a site bonus scheme of up to £920 per year
• Shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 off, 4 nights on, 4 off, with day shift 06:45-19:00 and night shift 18:45-07:00
