Tax Associate / Senior Associate

About the role

Hogan Lovells' Tax and Incentives practice in the UK advises UK and international clients on the taxation of business and investment activities, covering corporate, finance, real estate and investment fund taxation, employee incentives, transfer pricing, VAT and tax disputes. The role is based in London, with 35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm, though additional hours may be required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead transactions, depending on their complexity, reporting directly to the supervising partner
• Apply good working knowledge of the legal principles behind the scope of work and keep developing it
• Manage projects to high quality standards on time, with strong project management and organisational skills
• Stay aware of legal developments in specialist areas and attend relevant training
• Work closely with clients, building and strengthening relationships and showing commercial awareness
• Work cost-effectively, keeping track of budgets, costs and time recording
• Take ownership of project issues, share knowledge with colleagues and take responsibility for your own career development

Required profile

• Experience in a top-tier firm is preferred; 2 to 6 years of post-qualification experience (or equivalent) is ideal
• Minimum 2.1 degree with excellent written communication and drafting skills
• Employee incentive experience is beneficial
• Reliable, resilient and able to work under pressure with good time management
• Good working relationships with clients and colleagues, and a sense of the industry and its risks and opportunities
