Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – School Nurse (Part‑time)

About the role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a qualified Specialist Community Public Health Nurse to work as a School Nurse within the Children and Families Service. This part‑time permanent position is based at Pollok Health Centre and offers the chance to support the health and wellbeing of school‑aged children, families and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate a caseload of children and young people, assessing, planning and evaluating programmes of care.
• Deliver focused interventions for vulnerable children and families across priority areas such as emotional health, child protection and transitions.
• Undertake specialist assessments and contribute to Child’s Plans using the GIRFEC framework.
• Lead and coordinate care pathways related to emotional health, wellbeing, child protection and transitions.
• Collaborate with schools, families and multi‑agency partners to improve health outcomes.
• Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring and support to the school nursing team and students.
• Promote health improvement and reduce inequalities through education, support and early‑intervention initiatives.

Required profile

• First‑level NMC registration with a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification in School Nursing or Public Health Nursing.
• Current registration on Part 3 of the NMC Register.
• Experience working with children, young people, families and communities in a community or public health setting.
• Knowledge of GIRFEC, child protection legislation and national public health priorities.
