Specialist Grade Anaesthetist – Obstetric Anaesthesia

About the role

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton are recruiting a Specialist Grade Doctor in Anaesthetics with a special interest in obstetric anaesthesia. This permanent, full‑time position offers a sustainable 40‑hour week with no on‑call duties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a general clinical anaesthetic service across Derbyshire, East Staffordshire and surrounding areas.
• Deliver obstetric anaesthesia care and support emergency cover as required.
• Diagnose, treat and oversee the continuing care of patients in line with the job plan.
• Delegate tasks, train junior staff and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Provide cover for colleagues during leave and maintain flexible emergency arrangements.

Required profile

• Specialist Grade Doctor in Anaesthetics.
• Demonstrated special interest and experience in obstetric anaesthesia.
• Full registration with the GMC and eligibility to work in the UK.
