Specialist Teacher for SEMH Students (GCSE Core Subject)

About the role
We are looking for an inspiring teacher to join Parkside House School, an SEMH independent special school, delivering high‑quality, personalised learning to students aged KS2‑KS5. You will teach a core subject up to GCSE level across two sites in Ashington and Backworth, supporting pupils who face significant barriers to learning.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons for individuals and small groups.
- Create and review Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and tailored learning programmes.
- Support nurture‑based approaches, helping students develop emotional regulation and self‑control.
- Monitor, record and report on progress, ensuring high‑quality assessment.
- Collaborate with LSAs, tutors, care staff and the wider multi‑professional team.
- Maintain a safe, stimulating and well‑organised learning environment on‑site.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Ability to teach a core subject at GCSE level.
- Strong behaviour management and a nurturing, student‑centred approach.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and resilience.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Driving licence.

- Salary up to £20,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
