Staff Software Engineer - UK Platform Engineering

About the role

SailPoint builds an AI-powered identity security platform and is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its UK Platform Engineering team. The role is based in the United Kingdom and requires an in-person interview; candidates must hold permanent UK residency (British passport, Settled Status or ILR). You will architect and deliver high-performance cloud services that power the identity platform, working with product managers, UX designers and architects.

Key responsibilities

• Design resilient full-stack solutions in Golang and Angular, and build synchronous and event-driven microservices
• Pioneer AI-assisted and agentic development workflows
• Take ownership of technical excellence through architecture reviews, system profiling and developer mentorship
• Onboard, shadow team members, deliver the first production fix, then build and deploy end-to-end features for policy evaluation workflows
• Conduct code reviews, unit and integration testing, and run the 24x7 on-call rotation (about 1 week in 20)
• At one year, act as a Subject Matter Expert, mentor junior and mid-level engineers and lead cross-functional architectural initiatives

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 8+ years of professional software development experience
• Permanent UK residency (British passport, Settled Status or ILR)
• Proven expertise in backend microservice design and development, preferably with Golang
• Strong experience building modern web frontends, preferably with Angular
• Scalable microservices in a distributed SaaS cloud environment

Required skills

• Golang and Angular
• Automated testing, debugging and performance profiling
• Cloud databases such as Amazon DynamoDB, Aurora or Snowflake (preferred)
• Data streaming and event-driven architectures with Apache Kafka or Apache Flink (preferred)
• AI-assisted engineering: Cursor, Claude Code, Python ML libraries, PyTorch, LLMs and foundation models (preferred)
