Tax Investigations Manager – London (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Tax Investigations Manager to join a leading Big 4 firm’s Tax Disputes & Investigations team in London. The role involves handling complex, high‑profile HMRC enquiries, disclosures and tax disputes for a diverse client base, including multinational groups and high‑net‑worth individuals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage HMRC enquiries, investigations and compliance checks.
• Advise clients on disclosures, tax disputes and settlement strategies.
• Lead communications and negotiations with HMRC, including COP8 and COP9 investigations.
• Maintain and develop client relationships as a trusted adviser.
• Review technical tax issues and deliver practical, commercial solutions.
• Support Partners and Directors on complex assignments and business development.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.

Required profile

• CTA, ACA, ACCA, ATT or equivalent professional qualification.
• Proven experience in tax investigations, disputes or HMRC enquiries.
• Strong understanding of UK tax legislation and HMRC processes.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving abilities.
• Previous experience in a professional services environment, preferably Big 4 or specialist tax advisory firm.
