Technical & Quality Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical & Quality Manager to lead the quality, food safety and technical functions at a well‑established food manufacturing site in Bristol. You will work closely with production, operations, suppliers and senior leadership to embed robust standards and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all site quality, food safety and technical activities.
• Manage and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Oversee supplier approval, performance monitoring and compliance programmes.
• Provide technical expertise and problem‑solving support to production and operations teams.
• Review and enhance procedures to increase efficiency and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure adherence to customer standards, regulatory requirements and food safety legislation.
• Lead customer, third‑party and regulatory audits to successful outcomes.
• Handle non‑conformances, root‑cause investigations, corrective and preventative actions.
• Promote a positive quality and food‑safety culture across all departments.
• Monitor site performance using key quality and technical metrics.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify continuous‑improvement opportunities.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customers, suppliers and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Technical Manager, Quality Manager, Technical Lead or similar role within food manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, quality management systems and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing supplier approval processes and external audits.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Proactive, confident decision‑maker with the ability to influence others.
