Trainee Machinist – Junior Engineering Role

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Trainee Machinist to join a well‑established precision engineering manufacturer in Sittingbourne. This full‑time position offers hands‑on training alongside experienced staff, providing a solid foundation for a long‑term career in machining.

Key responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes and milling machines to produce precision components.
• Interpret engineering drawings and produce parts to exact specifications.
• Use measuring equipment to verify quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Assist experienced machinists with machine set‑ups and tooling changes.
• Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient workshop environment.
• Develop skills on CNC machinery as training progresses.

Required profile

• Some experience in an engineering or manufacturing setting (formal or informal).
• Ability or willingness to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Mechanically minded with strong attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and a genuine desire to build a long‑term career.
• Permanent right‑to‑work status in the UK.
